Does your skin need some moisture, antioxidants and soothing effects? Let’s explore the ritual of DIY skincare with avocado.

After having your breakfast with avocado and before applying your skincare routine, you can rub the fleshy part of the avocado peel on your face for a hydrating moisturizer.

Besides, you can make your face mask out of the old/brown part of avocado by following the recipe below...

You can give yourself a treat in the evening (or anytime) with this simple DIY avocado mask

Ingredients:

  • 5- 10 gram old/brown avocado (the part that you wouldn't want to eat)

  • 1/2 teaspoon matcha powder

  • 1 teaspoon ground oat

  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder (optional)

  • Either 1/2 teaspoon oil (almond or olive) or 1 teaspoon of plain yogurt

Directions:

  1. Combine all the ingredients and mix well into the paste mask

  2. Apply the paste mask on a clean face

  3. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes while reading a book or watching TV

  4. Wipe it off with paper then wash your face thoroughly. (I found wiping it off first easier than washing it off directly with water)

  5. Enjoy your refreshed and glowing skin!

This recipe gives your skin a full package of benefits: moisture, nourishment, antioxidants, soothing and calming effects, and exfoliation. Moreover, it contributes to reducing the consumption of mass produced face masks and embraces the natural homemade skincare from your domestic space.

If we look around our kitchen and/or green areas, there are a lot of ingredients we can use for our skin. For example, using either single recipe or in combination of different ingredients such as fruits (apple, berries,...), vegetables (cucumber, tomatoes,...), herbs (dandelion,...) and liquid (plant-based milk, yogurt, water,...) depending on season and how the ingredients are produced and transported as a face mask for your skin instead of using a sheet mask or face mask in containers that are sold on the market. It is safe for your skin, saves your budget and reduces the impact on our planet Earth. Yes! It is a WIN-WIN.

I hope you find this post useful and have the excitement to explore and practice DIY skincare.
